We’re looking for individuals with an enquiring mind, excellent communication skills, adaptability and a drive to succeed. Outstanding academic achievements should be combined with interests outside education. A business-related degree is definitely not a pre-requisite and other interests need not be confined to finance. In fact, our Research team comprises a mix of academic backgrounds, experience and interests, and such cognitive diversity is integral to the enduring success of our team-based approach.

A CV and covering letter should be sent to [email protected]. Applications are now closed. We will re-open this in August 2025 for our 2026 programmes.

Insights from an intern

2024 Research intern Harvey Turner shares his experiences of joining the firm, day to day tasks, and what he enjoyed most about life in Edinburgh

Across the six weeks, I was not only supported in my professional development, but grew to feel very much part of the team… given a front row seat to watch an investment strategy in action

The research internship is incredibly varied. Meeting senior management teams from different companies is particularly interesting. I’m naturally inquisitive, so being able to explore, learn and ask questions really appealed to me. I researched a Swedish medical devices company. It was fascinating to learn about the company’s future and where it’s going.

Our internship programme is designed to give you a feel for what the investment analyst job is really like. You get the chance to analyse a company – a project designed to stretch you. You do this investment research with help from a mentor in our team to ensure high quality learning.
